Portuguese economy grows above European average
Portugal performed above the European average in 2024, taking on the role of driving the eurozone economy. Much of this performance was due to the tourism sector, a path that economists believe will continue.
According to figures released by Eurostat, the eurozone’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 0.7 per cent in 2024 and the European Union’s by 0.8 per cent. Among the eurozone countries, Portugal had the third highest year-on-year GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2024 (2.7 per cent).
Portugal is thus among the best performing economies and the outlook is for this trend to continue.
