Portugal was honored in 31 categories at the 31st edition of the World Travel Awards, whose European gala took place in Berlin.

Madeira, Porto Santo, Lisbon and Porto were voted the best in Europe in the Best Island Destination, Best Beach Destination, Best Urban Destination and Best Metropolitan Seaside Destination categories, respectively. Braga won the Emerging Destination award, and the Azores were considered the Best Adventure Destination. The Paiva Walkways were once again awarded Best Tourist Attraction in the World in the Adventure segment. TAP was considered the best airline in Europe for traveling to South America and Africa.

Many other distinctions were won by national hotels, companies and projects.

Considered the “Oscars” of tourism, the World Travel Awards have been awarded by professionals in the sector on a global scale since 1993, distinguishing the work carried out in the tourism industry in order to stimulate competitiveness and quality in tourism.
